If you’re planning a summer wedding or event, make sure your feature cocktail is something sweet and refreshing. At West Belmont Place, the Black Olive is the perfect spot for wedding guests who want to keep the night going (check out the Black Olive’s summer cocktail menu). Adam Hughes, our talented mixologist and Bar Outlet manager shared two recipes from the summer cocktail menu. Enjoy them at your wedding!

Wedding Cocktail Hour: St. Patrick’s Cocktail and Mini Irish Treats

Friday, February 24th, 2012

We asked West Belmont Place’s Executive Chef Craig Mason for a fun cocktail and mini treat to enjoy at weddings and events near St. Patrick’s Day. He suggested the Leprechaun Leap as a fun cocktail paired with a wedding staple, pigs-in-the-blanket. Leprechaun Leap is a mix of  Ketel One, and Domaine de Canton with kiwi and is perfect for any time of the year.

Leprechaun Leap

You’ll need:

Preparation:

In a mixing glass muddle Kiwi until it’s pulpy. Add the remaining ingredients (use less simple syrup if your Kiwi is sweet and slightly more simple syrup, if tart) and give a vigorous dry shake. Add ice and shake again for 30 seconds. Strain into a V-glass and garnish with a slice of Kiwi.

Wedding Cocktail Hour: Winter Martinis

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

Custom calligraphy by Moira Events

A winter wedding deserves to have special martini as much as a summer wedding deserves a sweet watermelon or pineapple flavored cocktail. A oldie but a goodie on Ourweddingplus.com helps brides decide on wedding cocktails from liquors, colors, prices and ease of preparation.  The article says it best, if price is a object of concern, you can save money by offering one or two specialty cocktails during cocktail hour. Adam Hughes, our Bar Outlets Manager and mixologist gave us two martini recipes for winter weddings.

Frostini Martini

You’ll need:

  • 1 part Starbucks Cream Liqueur
  • 1 part Starbucks Coffee Liqueur
  • 1/4 part DeKuyper Peppermint Schnapps
  • fresh mint sprig for garnish

Preparation:

Pour the ingredients with a little bit of ice into a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into a frozen martini glass. Garnish with mint (optional).

Holiday Peppermint Martini

You’ll need:

  • 5 oz. vanilla Vodka
  • 2 oz. white crème de menthe
  • 1/2 oz. Peppermint Schnapps

Sip and enjoy!

Wedding Cocktail Hour: The Toastie

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Burrrrrrr, it’s getting cold out there! But, not if you’re drinking the warm Toastie. With the holidays coming up, we are using more fall drinks, such as a great Vermont Hard Cider we just received.  Adam Hughes, our banquet and bar manager describes the Toastie as, “A fall cocktail that is simple and will warm you up from the inside out.”

The Toastie

First, infuse vodka with cinnamon candies.

1 1/4 oz Amaretto
1/3 oz cinnamon vodka.
Add cinnamon sticks or cinnamon sugar rim, optional.
Serve as a drink or shot.

Sip and enjoy! Stay tuned for other wedding cocktails on our blog. If you think your wedding at West Belmont Place had the best specialty drink, let us know – we’d love to feature it!
